Darpan Pink Meditation Zafu
Darpan Pink Meditation Zafu
The print of the Rose Darpan Zafu meditation cushion is inspired by the astonishing hall of mirrors of Amber Fort in Jaipur, which reflects light. In India, a darpan, mirror, means reflection and faithful representation. The Rose Darpan zafu is screen printed in a soft pink by master artisans in India. It is finished with mud piping and adorned with a pompom like those seen on the camels of the great Thar Desert in Rajasthan. The cover and lining are 100% cotton and are filled with tight cotton. So beautiful that your practice will be inspired.

the making
Screen printing, one of the first textile techniques for creating precise images on fabric, is a multi-step process that requires skill and patience. The fabric is stretched flat then covered with a pattern blocking stencil. A handmade screen is placed over the fabric and stencil. Ink is applied, then a blade is moved across the screen, pushing the ink through to print the design on the fabric. Often, as with chatra screen printing, two master printers move the blade across the fabric; the action is meditative and rhythmic. The fabric is then heated to adhere the ink to the fabric, then it is washed and pressed before being cut and sewn.
